Wendy Williams has reportedly pulled out of a speaking engagement scheduled for this weekend as those close to her allegedly continue to worry about her well-being.
The 58-year-old media personality — who spent two months in rehab last year after relapsing on alcohol amid other health issues — will no longer speak at the Atlanta Women’s Expo, organizers told the Sun.
“There is a video from Wendy that will be played Saturday, apologizing for the late cancellation,” a representative for the Expo said in confirming the cancellation to the outlet.
The Post has contacted reps for Williams and the Expo for comment.
One source alleged to the Sun that the former daytime talk show host’s team had been going back and forth for weeks on whether Williams should appear in front of a crowd.
“There have been questions about if Wendy was well enough to do it, and there was pushing by some to get her to Atlanta and to put her on that stage,” the insider said.
“Wendy’s ability to perform has been rocky at best. She can put together a sentence one day but not the next,” they claimed.
Before the cancellation, the Expo’s site apparently read: “Join Keynote Speaker Wendy Williams as she shares insight into her trailblazing three-decade career in entertainment and a behind-the-scenes look into her inspiring journey of Life and the Pursuit of True Happiness on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 1:00.”
Last month, Williams was spotted in New York City with a camera crew, but her rep, Shawn Zanotti, claimed that “it is definitely not a reality show.”
“After taking a long break, Wendy feels some of the best days of her life were in media,” Zanotti said at the time. “She has been in media since her early 20s and wants to return to what she loves.
“Getting back to what she loves is something that is important to her. Yes, Wendy is filming,” she continued. “Yes, she is gearing up for something and the specifics of that can’t be disclosed as of yet.”
Williams is apparently still working to launch a podcast despite reports that the idea was scrapped.
Meanwhile, Williams’ friends are reportedly worried about the “new company” that she’s been inviting into her NYC penthouse.
“The real concern is when she has people over her house. She has jewelry and designer purses laying around,” a source alleged.
“Wendy is not in the best state of mind so unfortunately people will take advantage of that.”
After claiming she was “better than ever” after seeking treatment for substance abuse issues in October, Willams allegedly was spotted drinking alcohol again at an NYC gay bar — though her rep said that she was “happy” and “wanted to celebrate as she has a new lease on life.”
