A driver was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck early Friday along Interstate 270 in the Germantown area.
Maryland State Police said the crash happened just after 2 a.m. near I-270 north and Germantown Road.
Officials said an initial investigation found that a Ford Fusion was stopped in one of the lanes for “unknown reasons” and a semi-truck struck it in the rear and then jackknifed. The highway was closed for some time.
The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The victim was not identified, pending the notification of family.
The crash remains under investigation.
