Robert William Barker was born on December 12, 1923, in the town of Darrington, Washington, in the United States of America. His mother, Matilda Valandra, was a teacher, while his father, Byron John Barker, worked as an electrical lineman. After Bob’s father died at the age of six after being injured in a fall from a tower, Bob’s mother later remarried.
Prior to moving his family to Springfield, Missouri, he had previously lived in When Bob was eight years old, his family relocated from Springfield, Missouri to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. After living there for a while, they went back to Springfield.
