Several Giants were wearing knit ski caps with the letters “NYPD” on them, representing the Giants’ pass defense nickname, “New York Pass Defense.’’

One of the players wearing the lid was Giants defensive tackle Damon Harrison, who has little to do with the pass defense when it comes to covering receivers.

Asked where he got the hat, Harrison said, “The DBs had the hats over there in a box. I just went over there, and I stole it. Jackrabbit [cornerback Janoris Jenkins] was fighting me for it and I took it from him. Jackrabbit had the box, and I reached down. He was pushing me away, telling me to leave it alone, and I just took it. I didn’t earn it.”

When asked about it, Harrison didn’t even know what the logo/nickname meant, saying, “What is the ‘NYPD’ thing?”

When told what it stood for, he said: “Oh, man, who did that, man? Jackrabbit or DRC [cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie]?”

Then Harrison said: “Where’s the ‘New York Run Defense’ at?”
